Helaman ChiBartolo Helaman Chi is a self-taught visual artist from San Ignacio and San Jose Succotz, Belize. From an early age, he developed a passion for drawing, refining his artistic skills through years of dedication, discipline, and continuous practice.Working primarily with acrylics, Helaman began his artistic career by creating and selling slate carvings before transitioning to painting with the goal of becoming a full-time professional artist.His work is deeply inspired by Belize's rich natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and Maya traditions. Through bold colors, expressive compositions, and vibrant forms, he captures the beauty of wildlife, native flora, and the spiritual connection between people and nature.For Helaman, painting is more than a technique—it is a way of reflecting, finding balance, and expressing his relationship with both the natural world and his own identity. Throughout his journey, he has learned from fellow artists whose mentorship and encouragement have helped shape his artistic path.Today, Helaman actively exhibits his work while continuing to grow as an artist and strengthen his connection with the Belizean art community.
